Fairy Butterfly Garden Workday April 2013

The Butterfly Garden at the Unitarian Church of Ft. Lauderdale was lovingly created in 2010. Since then, we plan two Garden Work Days each year to pull weeds, trim overgrowth and add new plantings as needed. Each year also finds a new creature hidden under the foliage.

WE completed our first Garden Workday in April and thankfully had lots of wonderful helpers show up. We had not touched the garden in a number of months and it had become an overgrown mess. The purpose of this first gathering was just to clean-up, weed and trim.
We had our work cut out for us.

The grand plan for this space is to keep it natural looking and use mostly Florida native plants that are drought-tolerant. This plot is located in a very sun spot and does not have sprinklers .

The pictures below are After Pictures of the Cleanup. I am excited about our next Workday coming up on May 18th, as we will be adding plants to the garden at that time.

Meanwhile, enjoy!

2013 Butterfly Garden CleanUP Day at UUCFL!!

2013 Butterfly Garden Cleanup Day at the UUCFL

Come join us at the UU’s butterfly garden on Saturday, April 13th, and help us tame some weeds. We’ll be weeding, trimming, reclaiming the garden’s faerie altar, and making plans for some beautiful new plants.

10 AM to 1 PM

We’ll have cold drinks, snacks, music, bug spray, and plenty of work to do. Please remember to wear sun screen, and bring along a hat and a pair of gloves to protect your fingers.

(Keep your ears open….
we’ll be having another cleanup day in May.)
